Organic Bali Coconut Sugar – 16oz
This comes from the coconut palm. The nectar is dried into a granulated brown sugar. This product is not raw but has a high level of integrity behind its production. It is a great alternative to the over processed sweeteners in traditional markets. This crystal sugar can be used in combination with other sweeteners or can be substituted 1:1 for table sugar in recipes bringing a rich flavor with hints of caramel and an almost warm molasses note.
Refined cane sugars have a high glycemic index which can spike blood glucose levels and impact overall blood sugar health, whereas coconut sugar is a naturally lower-glycemic index food which results in more of a slow release energy causing much less of a roller coaster-like effect on blood sugar.
Coconut palm sugar is made from the nectar produced from the coconut tree (coco nucifera – not the same palm tree that produces Palm Oil). Once collected, it is boiled and processed into a granule. It’s a very simple process and a very simple and pure product. Coconut sugar provides small quantities of iron, zinc, calcium, and potassium, as well as antioxidants, as well.
